Former Miss India-World Sayali Bhagat, who will soon make her big screen debut in Rangeen, says she has nothing against skin show. In fact bold films have made Mallika Sherawat an international celebrity today, she insists.

As a model-turned-actress, how comfortable are you with skin show on screen?
I don’t mind showing skin to rise to fame. After all, I am a newcomer. What’s wrong in doing such roles? When an established actress titillates she’s called classy, but when a newcomer plays sexy roles she’s seen as cheap.

You won’t mind walking in Mallika Sherawat’s footsteps for success?
Certainly not. Mallika is a bold woman. That’s the reason why her fame today transcends Bollywood. She’s admired even in the United States. The cleavage-popping Haryana hottie is a head-turner everywhere she goes. I won’t mind raising my sex quotient.

Why is it that Miss Indias get a direct entry into films?
Possibly because producers think that any girl who becomes Miss India is a certified talent.

Do you think dare-bare films will fail to cause a stir at the box office after some time?
I can’t predict the future. Current trends indicate that such films have a good audience. But no one can say that every film where the actress is shown in nude shades or net-dresses or cleavage-popping outfits will be a sure-shot success.

Do women in Bollywood have to go via the casting couch to get meaty roles?
I don’t think so. This is an absurd idea because the decision to cast an actress in a film with Rs 5-10 crore budget is never taken by one person. Producers give importance to profit and not the casting couch.

Tell us something about your debut film.
I have just finished Rangeen, produced by my friend Nandita Singha. The role she offered was so much like me, that I had no hesitation in accepting it.
