This is a True story.
There were three females working in a particular department of a leading Media house in Pune. They were told that only one of them will be retained and that whoever gives the best "service" will keep the job and the other two will have to go. Giving the best "service" meant sleeping either with one of the senior managers or company clients almost on a daily basis. Since one of the three females was married, she opted out and resigned. The other two had to offer their services for almost a month after which BOTH got fired!
Because of this incident, none of the two girls are getting invited by their "normal" friends at their homes or any other place. One of the two girls is now taking Psychiatric help. And she told the Psychiatrist that this is pretty much the "trend" in most companies.
Another incident. Both husband wife are working. The husbands salary goes into paying all the EMI's and the wife's salary is used to run the house. Once the wife was told in the office that she is going to get fired and the only way to retain her job is to entertain her seniors and company clients. She told about this to her husband who was "OK" with this and she then went ahead with the offer to retain her job.

First of all it totally depends on the individual (being male/female) whether they want to take up such offers like this or not. So you cant deny stuff like this nor go agree to it. The incidents mentioned display a lack of ethics, restraint and self conscience on account of both parties - the employees or applicants and the employers or seniors. It is also a sign of a desperate mind on account of both parties. The employees are desperate to get a job and don't mind stooping low to achieve one. I was surprised to read in the second incident that the wife had the audacity to share and possibly ask for her husband's consent in an indirect manner. What shocked me is the husband's response, and even more shocking is the wife's decesion to go ahead. And all this is being made a norm by weaving it gradually into the social and moral fabric. Soon, a time might come when marriage will be a financial alliance rather than a personal one. And that time is not too long.
In such a scenario, women get exploited more than men. Men are innately wired to achieve gratification in such exploits, but women mostly get drained off their sanity.
As to what I shall do in such a situation. I shall expose the perpetrators and ensure that they are bled off their respect, money and official post.

Well, judging by my experience I can tell that sexual favours is a common place in workplace even today. The situation is particularly bad in BPOs where it is pretty much a norm for young girls to lick their bosses dic* to move to better departments like quality or training. If you want to fuck fresh out of college chicks you should try and join a BPO as managerial levels. Software also has some cases but the very nature of the job where client is breathing down your neck for deadlines makes it tough to distribute favours to females who can't perform. I think in the case mentioned, the females should have recoreded the statements of thier seniors and should have dragged them to court. Still there are people who either intend to be clean or are actually clean would have hired these ladies.
