Reshma arrested on prostitution charges interrogation MMS

Reshma smiling during police interrogation Simran interrogated by Kerala police
Mallu softcore movie queen Reshma was arrested by the Kerala Police in Cochin sometime back and was charged for prostitution. This clip shot by one of the police officers interrogating Reshma and one of the other girls called Simran.

Editor: I had always wondered how call girls were harassed by the police who seem to be content in busting prostitution rackets than going after terrorists who blow up our trains and buses. I think its high time we legalised prostitution so that our police can do some real work and save lives. What do you think? Please post your thoughts in the comments.

i do agree with you, the police should be spending their time on other major issues than prostitution etc.

first step is that they should legalize prostitution like foreign countries which will reduce the crime rate of killings and rapes

and if the govt still want to continue policing these small areas then they should start a new wing of police dept called community police like some foreign countries

I Agree with the view that prostitution should be legalised. Prostitution is in the society from times immemorial. No government has the capacity to stop prostitution.legalising prostitution will atleast essure that the problems of sex workers are taken care of and govt agencies like Police dont harass them. Also regularising can also benefit in terms of maintaning hygine and sex education

Well you are right probably then we look forward to less rape cases. wts the problem in legalizing it its the fucking gurls life what she does with her body rather sell it or save it. It is ones personal choice and the government should have no right to command her not to.....:)

Ohh a sad news.....

i was very disheartened to see reshma getting arrested.... I felt rerally sad....

I dont know about prostitution, I never went, I am still vergin. I dont think we need to legalise prostitution, as india is the corrupt country, if allowed then there would be over flow of kidnapping poor girls and sell them to brothels.

but i have soft corner for reshma, she is something different. i have watched many clips and movies of her....

even if she is involved in prostitution, i think she should be rrleased ( dont ask me on what basis )

For me she is an star actreess, more important than Bipasha basu or mallika.

I praye to god, she will get relised...

I completely agree with you all, police shoud focus more reduicn crime rather than poking their noses on less important matter. prostitution is there since civilization and it never does anything wrong for most of the soceity, its a servie that some people provide and some people accepts. it should be legalized.

Do the police see this? The policemen here are known to be the scavengers.Rather we should legalise prostitution so that even a prostitute should have the right to sleep with a person of her choice with her consent. Then there might be a lesser chance for them to harrass the prostitute and their customers.

this clip aptly shows how blatantly our police breaks laws itself. it is completely illegal to tape and show such inerrogation, no matter what the charge is. it is a gross human rights violation. prostitution should be legalised so that people like reshma have some rights to fight back such atrocities

High time the Indian "moral police" matured and allowed legal adult enjoyment - everything from adult channels on TV, private parks for couples only,... the list is quite large

Probably we could form an Indian Heffner(s) association :P

Hey i do agree with u buddy...
But i still wonder... what makes Reshma to get into the prostitution line when she is preity well off after her massive success in the malyalam film industry...(assuming that she is well off now..)

The moot point here is what wud be the probable pros & cons of legalising prostitution???..The best way to me looks that rather than making it legalised, a separate wing shud be developed and the major part of the police department shud be focussing on the more imporantant societal issues...

Legalising prostitution has its own drawbacks on the society which becomes extremely uncontrollable ...

Anwyaz...cheer to the editor for raising such an issue...

Poor Women. They sell their bodies to live. Once when i met some prostitutes in person i never felt any sexual kind of feeling. Instead i started having a sort of sadness. These poor people are doing so to feed their family.

Prostitution should be legalised and we must learn to treat these women as human beings with self respect. The police too must stop running behind these poor women and start chasing some real criminals.

The irony lies in the fact is that, when men act promiscuous it is seen as a sort of heroism, and when women act the same way, they are considered as "fallen". Let such outdated social evils be damned.

They will never legalize as these are the techniques they earn money .
My friend was caught by an inspector in chennai with a call girl in a lodge and he had to pay the police 30k to let off without case .

they should legalize in such a manner like in UK where in as long as there is no public nuisance ..it is allowed .

The problem with India is that if they legalize , they will start fucking on the road like dogs ..

So legalize it with some rules like not in public places..etc etc

Yeah, It might work out in foreign countries, but not in India. With our illiterate population if we legalize prostitution, there will be a huge crime racketeering involving women against their will for this business and we will also be the capital of the world for Aids.

So stop sensationalizing or getting emotional over this idea.

I have seen some comments by the Editor in the recent past and am pleasantly amazed at the libertarian streak that s/he has displayed in his/her comments. Legalizing prostitution will ensure higher revenues for the govt, will ensure streamlined policies just like other industries in order to see that sex workers are routinely detected for STDs, and if detected, adequate steps are taken to ensure their medical treatment. It will reduce crimes against our young women and enable young men to give vent to their instincts, as given to them by millions of years of evolution. More than anything else, it will remove the discomfort one associates with anything sexual, in our society. Why does the govt have to bother when two consenting adults want to engage in a business transaction? We need to stop being so uptight and uncomfortable and encourage men and women to interact, from a young age. I'd rather we be a society of free love than be replete with sick and vulgar "item numbers" in our films -- they are demeaning and utterly objectifying. We need to grow up and mature, and celebrate making love. We are the country that gave Kamasutra to the world. It is time we get in touch with our roots. Knowing computer languages and getting paid thousands of rupees a month does not make us sophisticated -- having the ability to do what one wants to do, without fear of persecution is what makes a society civilized and cultured. Thank you, Editor. God Bless!

Hi friends
I agree with editor's view on this matter.
Prostitutes are victim of our law despite entertaining every section of society in one or different way. Legalisation of prostition will encourage new girls and women who want to work for others pleasers for money and same time many people who are not happy with their wives, cohabiting with other's wife, and doing very risky things for enjoyment, will get open opportunity to satisfy himself. Further legalisation will reduce guilt feeling among many girls and women who want to do sex work for money. It will boost earning capacity of poor girls and women and their society, family, relatives will begin to give more value & importance to their girls and women because of strong of earning source. All these things will boost tourism because our area comprise women/girls of differents ethnic varieties like hight, color, looks, nature or in other word different taste in bed and it will attract too many outsiders/wealthy foriegners for these different qualities of girls and women for sex without fear of law, and boost tourism and good pay to girls/women of poor section of society. It does not mean that entire country will become prostitute or brothel but it will depend on free will of women/girls and their choices. They will get benefit from such move with providing firm base to adult industry which is lacking legaly but society want even silently. This is right time for legalisation of prostitution and pornography.
Today every thing has changed, society also changed. So it is time to change our mindset and attitude towards old useless law which is unfit in today's social and psychological settings. Think with fresh and updated intellectual dimentions and create right attitute for entertaining section of society like bar girls and prostitutes. Now it is time not to silent but to speak as loudly as possible which spread message that change is need of time of the day.

Please reply your view and thinking.
I request to editor please reply in more detail..
thanks you

Onced prostitution is legalised in a country like india more and more poor underaged girls from remote places would be forced to protituion against their will. i am not denying the fact that its happening now but the legalisation would boost the illegal human trafficking by 10 times. The male attitude pulls him towards what is more interesting - sex! why bother about terrorists? completely agree, Prostitution should be legalized. Down with the 100 year old attitude imposed by the victorian British, who by the way are still wondering what hit them on the head, that they ended up acted like uptight idiots with a stick up their arse. Lets get back to the 1000 year old Indian system where prostitution was always celebrated and accepted albit on the fringes of daily life but did not have the shackles of modern day stupid legal laws. Think Parineeta...Better society, better husbands, happier families overall!

Indeed, prostitution creates some hazards in the society, agreed, but still there are some critical social issues which may lead to a strong debate why it should be legalized.

There are lots of issues where men are deserted by their girlfriends, wives, many are divorced. Not all of them are able to get back into mainstream normal life. Yes, prostitution can help them a lot. Worth mentioning here, it also helps a lot of women in need!

But again, sex against money - the idea repels quite a few strong brains of the society. They also have strong arguements in favor of their opinion.

The last word - everything & anything cannot have 100% advantages. The debate of legalizing or letting it illegal shall continue in our society.

I do not agree that prostitution should be just be legalised.
In fact it should be institutionalised and deemed as an "Industry" under ministry of health & family welfare. (who better than Anbumani Ramadoss to be boss of prostitutes!!)

So that there is:

1) Reservation & quota for prostitutes
2) Minimum Support Price & MRP
3) ISI & Agmark certification of prostitutes
4) Trade union and industry body like Board of Control of Prostitutes in India (sounds familiar?)
5) Training and education to prostitutes through Indian Institute of Prostitute Training. (IIpT)
6) Service Tax incentives for out handmade services.
7) Input-Output credit. (PC will take care)
8) Employment guarantee schemes, with minimum wages

Once we have all this, the police will be free, but politicians will become busy!!!

Cheers..

Well said dude, prostitution is something policemen cannot bust .. cause they themselves are sometime involved in (if not having sex with them, then taking hafta from them). Again that is something i don't see as illegal, these people are doing anything wrong just getting paid for getting laid. whats wrong when almost everyone does that. Say its wrong if you have never thought of having sex with a voluptuous women just upon seeing her in your everyday life. i must say, better stop, kids from selling porn cds in markets and stop child/women trafficking for sex rather then harrassing a grwnup adult from selling her body on her own will. India is a land of perverts, on one hand one jerks of watching his housemaid or swings with other couples and on the other hides liquour bottles from elderly parents or tries to not smoke in front of parents trying to look very ethical.

This was very big surprise for me to read that most of the writers want prostitution to be legalised.... nothing left to think...

Where are we going ?

Prostitution is oldest profession i agree, but that doesnt mean we should evolve from human to animals, backward direction.

kamasutra was made for healthy sex and reproduction for married couples, not for sex maniacs.

ours is the country believes in worshipping women... treat them like goddess...

And you want to legalise prostitution ?

This is perfect example how men treat women as sex object.. only sex object.

women dont do prostitution because they like, but its their MAJBURI to do it.

She may allow men to fuck her, by taking money fromhim, but from inside it will be rape, mental rape, offcourse with time she will get used to it.

india is not the country that deserves to take bold step. its very easy to sit on PC and write you want to fuck a woman, by throwing some money on her face.. by this would be ultimate insult of the women in the world.... and its happening.

Dont compare countries with legalised prostitution with that of india.

ours is the corrupt country, police rape women, women is paraded naked, she killed because they think she is witch, we have to come on road to get jusice ( see Priyadarshini Matto case ), our police are hostile to criminals, our politicians have long criminal records, women police are molested by men police, forign tourist are raped and molested, those who raise against corruption are killed. father rapes daughter, minor rapes are common, conviction rate is only 10 %, and infact most of our citizen dont even follow traffic rules.... to mention.

does this country deserves prostitution to be legalised ?

its high time, men need to control themselves, there are many important things to do, some creative work.

those who advocate for legalisation of prostitution would eventually find a client who is their mother or sister or daughter.

What will happen if prostituiton legalised ?
1. poor girls and women would be kidnapped and forced to prostitution, 100 %
2. police and politticians wont pay for sex, they might even rape women and cliam that it was legalised and they have paid for it, not difficult for india.
3. india would be capital of AIDS.
4. it would be difficult to prove any rape here after, men will accuse women of being prostitute.
5. fathers will sell thir daughters and wives, for money, poor girls cant even reach poilice, if they do, then police would rape them too.
6. minor girls would be forced for prostitution.
7. india would become sex garbage.
8. Anyway, prostitution does exist in india, why we need to legalise it, those who want to enjoy, they are doing it, why you want a show off ?

Sad to see Reshma in this state but it still does not convince me that prostitution should be legalized. As a non-Indian born (well I'm Indian by race) married to an Indian, I would like to add that the huge majority of Indians are illiterate and this will further widen the gap between the rich and the poor underage girls/women vying for a better social status. And down goes India!

Let me give you pakistani perspective. Prostitution has not been termed as Illegal in this country, it neither legal here. sometime ago in 1984 , the Military dictator passed a bill to please religious parties and named it as Islamic Law which restricted women from moving around with unknown men. by unknown i mean with whom she has no blood/marital relationship. that law has now been abolished. this was real problem sometime ago, when police could ask you about the women with you if she is your wife or sister. thanks to current regime we can do things freely.
Sex free society will surely reduce crime rates and offcourse police may focus on public security then.

I think everyone's a little confused. The point being made is to legalise prostitution, not pimping. Pimping would still be illegal. You'd just be letting prostitutes make their own choices. Unfortunately, every second idiot would turn moralistic and deny prostitutes basic human rights, if they were to come out publicly ( read deny them rental space, shopping rights, generally treat them like shit ), simply because the average Indian always wants to feel moralistically superior to other people. There's no point legalising prostituion, if society as a whole condemns it. Indians need to wake up and get out of the stupid rut they're stuck in. The more you talk about prostitution being contrary to Indian culture, the more amusing it gets. Prostitution was quite legal in ancient India. Sex was an open topic. Raksha Bandhan, far from being the holy brother-sister bond its supposed to be today, was initially a festival involving married and unmarried women tying pieces of string on the men they fancied for the night. The Manusmriti, which people tout as being the basis of Indian civilisation, never condemned prostitution or sex, in fact it reserved a place of respect for prostitutes, going so far as to make them absolutely necessary for the completion of certain rituals. The hidebound rigidness that most Indians follow today, comes from a much later book called the Yagnavalkayasmriti, which amended the laws in the Manusmriti more than 800 years later. Jeez... why don't people read up about their own culture, before getting all moralistic. The ONLY way we can fix the crap we're in, is to completely turn the educational system around. India was an open country, where almost everything was tolerated. Why can't we recapture a bit of that glory again ?

Absolutely. I am a firm believer in legalisation of prostitution. From Ministers, MPS, Top Businessmen, everybody needs them, exploits them but never give them the status. Police take the advantage and collect tax from them. Legalisation would also help curbing spread of AIDS.

We know most celebrities, and many aristocrate housewives r also involved in it. So why can't we accept it?

Though many NGOs are working in this dierction, but our hipocrate society & Govt. do not show the courage to face reality.

Stupid Perverts think prostitution should be legalised ! Tell you what, legalisation of prostitution is bound to cause more trouble ! Other than AIDS sweeping the country, its bound to cause more problems.Considering america altogether,a woman is raped every 7-8 minutes. There are over 1000000 gang members there and a shootout occurs every 15 min.Its better to end up without pimpin thugs and rapists than legalise some stuff like prostitution and alcohol cuz it screws everyone in the end ! If it happens behind closed doors, its alright but legalisation is not a good choice.

NO..it should not be allowed because it might cause serious cultural problems in a country like india. any political party try to do so will loose the next election for sure.

Yes I agree. Prostitution must be legalised. Many of the sexual crimes will be controlled if prostitution gets legal status. The infamous nithari killers confessed that they have to abuse kids since they are unable to get sex workers. Oh God!!! Many rapes can be avoided if only males can get sex workers easily. Recently I've been to Goa, I observed a very disturbing scene...a young female foreign tourist appeared suddenly from a corner, at a distance a few goan men looked at her as though they have not seen a woman since ages. They have virtually raped her with their eyes. Yes, I mean it. I could see the hunger and dissatisfaction in them, oh God, save this cursed country called india. I request the Editor or whoever in influential positions to take up this matter with govt. Please do it for the good of the country. Sex is just an energy, if it doesn't get a proper channel, there are always destructive channels available. God Bless india.

I do not not not agree with the editor. As apart from boosting the flesh trade which is already rampant, have you ever thought the consequences of having a brothel next to your house? How can you say such a thing. Just imagine a drunken customer mistakes your house for the brothel what then. Please please please think twice before just typing anything.

Guyss
Prostitutions is legal in australia. Forget that there is a brothel listed in the stock exchange. Prostitution should be legalised in every country...the cultural thing what u are talking about is crap....the origins of kamasutra itself is from an ancient brothel in india.....legalising prostitution would give women the benefit of having legal protection...banning pimping would make it even better. Any society to survive with reduced crime need a sexual outlet if its not prostitution where would people with high sexual appetitie go....

Hi, is this the same girl who sells porn movies? Oh O! i dont know she was into prostitution also. but for a social cause we should have legal brothels, where girls are taken in after a thorough medical checkup and decent enough to be laid. Illegal activity of any kind is vulnerable.

folks it is not about money and tourists. it is about respect even in foreign countries
prostitutes are not treated as respectfull job.so nxt time think 3 time before talking on any national debate

hey....I think taking a decision like legal prostitution in India is a major step but towards what?

Gimme atleast one advantage...Tourism will boost! u should be joking. other way round underworld marketting, drugs, and most importantly we as Indians will stop respecting our women, we all watch porn but DO WE DISRESPECT WOMEN IN INDIA?.. "NO". Imagine what would have happened if prostitution was legal..just in case you, I or any one would go to brothel and that would have an implicit or an explicit effect on the relationships that we share woth our wives. Thinking of it on the present day how many women have a boyfriend and still work(receptionist, nurse, teacher...etc) plenty of them and if pros becomes legal then what atleast 10% of these working women will become prostitutes and at least 15% of the children in the next generaion would not broughtup in a good way because they don't have a good mother to guide them and

i live in USA and most of the foriengners like india because we indians respect women not because the foriengners would like to fuck indian women!

We have a great heritage o culture dont forget that.

i completely agree with you all, police shoud focus more reduicn crime rather than poking their noses on less important matter. prostitution is there since civilization and it never does anything wrong for most of the soceity, its a servie that some people provide and some people accepts. it should be legalized

i personally agree that prostitution but then this problem will be more vunerable more than now bkoz girls will be forced to do this, as this law will not suit for india to be validated

Totally agree with you Rajesh. I am myself a reporter in a news channel, came here to check upon something and saw this topic, Editor its really narrow mind of you to think about legalization of prostitution in india. Do you really Love you country? aware ppl about girl child birth so that they wont kill them and girl to boy ratio will arise, then ppl will not look for prosititutes rather they will get married, there's so many things we can do fairly Rather than going on wrong side. Like all are disccusing here. This is my first visit to site and will check what ppl will reply if its above my head then i wont be coming back to this site to check up.

God bless everyone

Note: Am not insulting anyone here. just telling whatever i felt right.

Editors Reply: Hi Anjum, thanks for writing in.

I totally disagree with you. Prostitution is legal in many countries...plus, if you know little bit of our country's history, you will know that we were quite liberal before the invaders and the Europeans came in. Please watch Girish Karnad's wonderful movie Utsav starring Rekha and Shekhar Suman.

am fully agree with all those who are saying that the Prostitution to be leagalised.so that our brave police can concentrate on some other real jobs like barriered the terrorism. I have personally seen that MMS and felt pity for those girls who were facing stupid questions from police. And that interrogation was being done by a real son of a bitch.he was trying to show his manly before those helpless girls. i am sure if he is asked to interrogate Abu Salem or any terrorist , he will definitely pass his urine in pant. but in that moment that bastard must have felt like James bond.FUCK HIM
