November 9th is almost here and the two biggies Om Shanti Om and Saawariya will hit the screens on the same day. With both setting the advance booking counters on fire it should be a real treat for all movie lovers this Diwali weekend. My personal guess is that Om Shanti Om will rake in more moolah and Saawariya will get more critical acclaim. Either way, we the moviegoers win. The viewers are really expected to have a gala time watching these movies, its gonna be their diwali treat.
Regarding the success of these films i believe that OM SHANTI OM already has an edge over SAAWARIYA in the publicity area. Shahruk's 6 pack abs, the popularised link up of Depika with Mahender Singh Dhoni, and Yuvraj, and of course the collective guest appearence of more than 35 stars in the title track are all going to attract huge masses. The publicity team of OSO has really done a good work.
In case of SAAWARIYA we dont know any thing about the plot. Although Salmaan is there in the film but the fact has not been highlighted. Therefore it is the reputation and track record of Bhansali the film is banking on. Lets see if it can set the box office on fire, because critical acclaim of Sanjay Leela Bhansali film is as certain as a hung parliament in India. Good luck to both movies.

Sawariya shall be hit.........by seein the promos of Om Shanti Om - i feel its the old hindi movie Kaarz (or something similar), which offcourse the hero n the director r declining. Coming to Sawariya - its the fresh faces - but has a very big name Sanjay Leela Bansali.......we cant forgot him - he is the guy who gave many flicks (& dont frgt people who r SRK fans - SRK also go couple off hits bcoz of Bansali)...........so i shall prefer to goto Sawariya than OMO.......

Don't waste your time spending hours in a cinema hall while you can enjoy Divali!

Guyz!! Dont get annoyed. Amitabh is GUD but he cant match Shahrukh in terms of popularity. Ppl WORSHIP SHAHRUKH. Did you see the documentary "THE OUTER WORLD OF SHAHRUKH KHAN". If not see it to find out. For the time being, here is a link which can clear your doubts.
The following differences are just very hard to ignore:
1. Amitabh Bachchan in his entire career had no Solo All Time Blockbuster and Blockbuster. Shah Rukh Khan has 2 Solo All Time Blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
2. With arrival of Khan’s overseas market opened up first with Salman Khan Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and then with Shah Rukh Khan Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Amitabh Bachchan success was just restricted to India and now that Khan’s has done so much in Overseas that Amitabh Bachchan is also getting recognition.
3. Amitabh Bachchan was every time overshadowed when He had same level of power performer acting with Him, example Shakti where Dilip Kumar overshadowed Him, Kaala Pathar where He was no match for Shatrughan Singha or Mohabbatein where He had bigger role than Shah Rukh Khan still was completely overshadowed by Shah Rukh Khan, etc. Whereas with Shah Rukh Khan it was vice versa example Mohabbatein where He gave His Career one of the finest performance against Amitabh Bachchan, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham were He completely ate Hrithik Roshan in the scenes which they had together, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam where Salman Khan couldn’t match Him at all, etc.
4. In era of Amitabh Bachchan there was brilliant writers like Salim – Javed, brilliant directors like Yash Chopra, Hrikesh Mukherjee, etc still he was unable to deliver Solo Blockbuster and All Time Blockbuster. Whereas in era of Shah Rukh Khan there was shortage of good writers and directors still Shah Rukh Khan gave Solo All Time Blockbusters with Debut Directors Aditya Chopra Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Karan Johar Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
5. Amitabh Bachchan had an affair with Rekha and never had a clean image. Whereas Shah Rukh Khan has clean image and had no affair with any heroine.
6. Amitabh Bachchan’s controversial love story, Silsila floped so badly that it had less than 30% audience in the halls on its opening day (most halls had less than 10% audience). Whereas Shah Rukh Khan’s controversial love story, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, broke opening week’s record and has third best opening of Indian Cinema History.
I can go on, but what is the point. The difference is very apparent in the quality of their achievements. There is a reason why Shah Rukh Khan is on top of everyone’s go to list. There is a reason why people love Him more than Amitabh Bachchan.

I just saw OSO, its one of the wrost movie i have seen in recent past. Overacting, bad plot, not so good songs, SRK looks pathetic. It has all the wrong ingredient in the movie.
ONLY good job is done by the publicity & marketing team of OSO. By creating so much hype in media. All the "so called" reviewers, who are giving three and four stars to OSO, they should be FIRED from their job.

i do agree sharukh is a good actor, but comparing with amithab and belittling amithab is you are hurting feelings of a generation which grew up watching amithab movies even with out doing that sharukh khan is king khan and a good actor its just the different faces of india.
i am 36 years old may be not of your generation, what amithab taught us was sacrifice, fighting against odds to be frank we owe much to amithab movies i will just talk about few movies, you are right amithab acted almost all in multi starrers and in every movie he suffers...
1) sholay toss of a coin...
2) muqadder ka sikander... he loves the heroine rakhi, the doll, she loving other hero vinod khanna doesnt giving a damn and the title song and in the end amjad khan and amitabh killing each other and he finding solace in rekha other heroine.
3) i dont remember the movie which is a stunner with shashi kapoor, shashi is cop and amithab a con, on his hand its tattoed tera bap chor hai, both brothers chose thier own ways in the end during a conversation shashi i have mom what you have inspite all the wealth you have, do u have any idea how pain ful it is to bear not having a mom only amitabh could suffer like that.
4) In amar akbar anthony amithab appreciating akbars qawwali and taking nirupa roy to qawwali and calling her maa...
when it comes to sharukh khan its ur generation man lets talk about
1) dilwale dulhaniya le jayenge... sharukh is rich NRI son its ok for him to lie for can of beer, all pepped up, playing rugby and things like that... i dont say its wrong or incorrect whom iam to comment its just different generation different kind of hero.
what ever stats might say call me old fashioned indian or what ever Amithab is my hero and will be my hero the man of masses, what amithab taught me i might be an under dog but still i got a chance and hope.
its just a difference of generations, most of the times contemparary thinking will define the movies.
