Q. I am a 32-year-old and married man. I had a homosexual encounter with a friend about 15 days back. I allowed him to masturbate me with his hands and he also put my penis in his mouth for some time but I ejaculated in his hands only. I did not touch his penis nor did oral. Is there any change of me having AIDS, in case he is infected? I am enjoying normal sexual relationship with my wife. As I am told that tests have to be carried out after 3 months only and I do not have valid reason not to have sex with my wife, I am asking this question. Please advise.
A. The blood test for HIV becomes positive only after 3 months of having picked up the infection but the chances of infecting the other partner start from day one of acquiring the infection in any unprotected sexual encounter. Since you had no idea about your partner's HIV status while indulging in oral sex with him, it is best advised to go only for condom-protected sex with your wife. You must get yourself tested after the mandatory 3 months period of the homosexual encounter to know about your own HIV status.

Masturbation carries a Zero risk of contracting HIV. Insertive oral is a theoretical risk only - which means it transmission can be possible theoretically but it has never happened. As far as this encounter is concerned, I do not see a valid reason for testing - especially as your partner is not known to be HIV positive. Nevertheless it is recommended that every sexually active (polygamous) person should get tested on a regular basis.

There is no potential risk from the encounter you described. It does not mean that you should continue with these kinds of acts.
Oral sex is safe even though there is a theoritical risk in it, so far no one has infected this way.
Stop these kind of activites and stay well.

Inspite of waiting for 3 months you can also find out the HIV status of the partner you had encounter with , it will make you little easy

What you are doing is absolutely wrong. Always use a condom during sex. Please go in for testing and see whether you are HIV positive or negative.
