Superstar Rajinikant's Sivaji - The Boss hits the screen on Friday, 15th of June. The film is India's most expensive film to date reportedly made with a budget of Rs. 65 crores, directed by India's most expensive director Shankar (reportedly charges Rs. 8 crores per film) and Rajinikant has been paid Rs. 15 crores plus share in the profits which will easily take his earnings to anywhere between Rs. 25 crores to Rs. 30 crores! Only goes to show how far behind the Hindi film industry is compared to their Southern counterparts and which makes people laugh when the Hindi moviestars and producers start talking about matching Hollywood. First they need to match the Southern biggies before they even start of aiming for Hollywood. Watch the movie even if you don't understand a word of Tamil to see why Rajini is the real boss!

the more you spend the better the film? I am afraid that is easier said than done. Just because they spend more doesnot make the tamil moveis better than hindi, just because hindi movies spend more doesn't make them better than bengali, just because hollywood spends more doesnot make them better than hindi. A good film is a good film, regardless of the budget and the language.

We all know how good he is..failed to create an impression in Hindi/Kannada film industry.Accepted in Tamil industry..enuff said ;))))))

This is the most expensive film becuase it casts India's expensive actor, Rajnikanth, who takes home Rs 20 cr + part of profit, directed by India's expensive director, Shankar, who takes home Rs 8 cr and composed by India's expensive musician, AR Rahman, who for the first time charged Rs 6 cr (to be confirmed). This reduces the budget of the film to a whooping 50%. But there is a good probability that the movie will do good and the producers surely are gonna take close to Rs 100 cr home, at least by the next 1 yr..

wht i found is hindi cinema is not all tth great..its very mushy mushy no dyanmism or good stories or u can say very less intense films made...but i dont see any reason why we need bash the hindi audience as its their characteristcs they dont like serious movies theyw ant light entertainers and most people are jolly types and superficial..where souther parts of india people are more disciplined.intelligent and intense and practical...its two different types of peole we cannot compare........in any ways im eagerly looking foward to sivaji.

I do not understand why you are trying to compare Sivaji release with the Hindi film industry ???
How are they related? Both industries have their own share of good and bad movies...
What you are talking about is only the 'money' factor, its not the right analysis. It would have been better if you would have talked about the movie.
I disagree with this unwarranted, brain dead, unnecessary 'comparision'.

Lets not make this site a competetion based on regional inclinations. Its about having fun lets keep it that way.

Hey common loads of money involved doesn't make it a good film. That is not a comparision criteria. We all know that the small budget movies are many times better than the big budget ones. Many huge budgted hollywood movies have turned out to be absolute piss.. Stealth, 88 minutes, Oceans 12 to name a few....he comparison made here is like apples and oranges.
I thought this was an unbiased blog, but then if you do wanna compare south and north. Here goes.
The the point is that south Indians are crazy about stars.....They dont care about the acting in the movies and other aspects like story and reality for that matter. Rajni beating all hooligans with justa piece of cloth. Load of crap. Does any one think Rajkumar was talented in any way....

No point in generalising things with racial comments. By the way, Comparing in how much yearly tax one pays is always better than how much he earns in one year. That would be "honest" way to compare things.
Or you can jump out of your well and look around which one is more popular....

Frankly, just for info, Vipul Shah has signed a contract of 100 crores with Adlabs for 10 films. That means he will get Rs. 10 crore for each movie, making him more expensive than Shankar.
But still, I too think that the combi of Rajni and Shankar rules!

Yes, Bollywood claims only Indian cinema and not compete with southern cinema esp. tamil and telugu, malayalam as big giants. Even in National Awards, they are considering or respecting the contribution of other actors /films from South. It is b'cos Members are basically from North India and they even do not know about acting or art or any word of real contribution or efforts of Indian cinema.
Now Sivaji, really big boss among the clowns in bolly wood.

rajini has been best film actor. cannot be comapred with amitab or kamal hassan,
he can act any kind of character, but is styles only he can do,none other indian film star can do even sharukh,

rajani is the biggest star..
but sad thing is most of the people in other parts of india don't understand the language so they should release it in hindi also...
you have to remember hindi is our national language.
by the way about hte comparing with the hollywood is not in terms of budget but with the content and story-telling.
not like style and some kick-boxing...
so,, don't laugh ..

I'm a Tamilian but travelled across the country and was fortunate enough to get pretty much involved with the following film industries - Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi & Bengali. To be frank, honest and ignoring my motherstate, I admit that quality in movie making only resides in Hindi & Tamil movies, with the former taking a bigger share. This rating is in terms of the extend to which they are able to bring up new wine in a new bottle and how close the audience can relate the incidents to real life and many more. Pre 2000, Tamil cinema competed neck-to-neck with the Hindi counterpart, but the millenium's onset saw the face of creative bollywood. Some of their recent movies can easily be matched to the hollywood counterpart.
Tamil cinema need to get rid of B & C grade movies and Hindi movies should get rid of 2 directors/producers - Karan Johar & Yash Chopra family. Indian cinema will esaily reach the top spot !!

Rightly said Caesar.
I have been living here in South for more than 2 years and its true that the South People care only about the stars and not the story of the movie.
The South movies are just Hero based fims with heroines there to dance and show their bodies.
Bollywood movies now a days have been much better as they used to do before. Serious Cinema also started flourishing but all we can see in south films in Heroes showing stupid senseless stunts and Heroines dancing pathetically in silly clothes

Hey,
Common... dont fight... yep Tamil and Telugu folks are crazy about heroes!
Hindi films are kinda better than what they were, some good story line - but most of them are cheap copies of hollywood.
dont fight guys, Tamz you should know that all heroines are non-tamilians (failed hindi actresses) !! Without them your 'dreams' and 'fantazies' would freeze. And hindi folks , can learn from a lot from south about doing some good technical work...

I dont understand on a fly the ppl start comparing south and north film industry. Specially it is initiated by the south ppl coz the north ppl/industry dont even compare themselves with there southern counterparts. We dont feel the need there is no comparison,as we dont understand the language and we dont care thats it. But I dont understand the south mentality who even never stop comparing anything that happens there with northern couterparts. I have myself seen lot of so called very good tamil movies and have found that super hero heroes and most innoncent heroines who just pounce and flatter there eyes is wat makes tamil cinema. This does not interests us north indians at all. we dont look at the heroes as superheroes and heroines as god so we will not make movies like those. And if a movie is really good it would be acclaimed not only by south indians but also by north indians. If only south indians make a movies superhit then it is as good as any bengali or marathi hit movie. It does not come to national level... Understand this and stop getting frustrated in everything... If you think Sivaji is so great try sending it to oscars man.. Come out of the national award mentality..

For the northies in here, im telugu. I have to say that some of the best indian movies have been tamil ones.
Roja, bombay, indian(hindustani in hindi). Numerous other ones.
I dont really like rajni much but if you northies actually watched the movies from childhood like us it would make you wonder also why we arent compared to the hindi film industry.
2 years back Black won the best IIFA award. You cant tell me that movie was a good one it was a rip off helen keller. Kal ho na ho was gay as hell too, I mean I predicted the ending of the movie after that AWFUL rip off of American Woman. The ending with, i loved him, i loved him too & saif ali khan saying i loved him too wtf lol.

i am a south indian but i watch all the movies from telugu, tamil to hindi since i know 5 languages.
its hard to compare each regional films since their genre differ but Rajinikanth is one special unqiue star, whose charisma and style cannot be competed by any actors.

I am sure the people who are critiszing Tamil movies have not seen any of them and the ppl who are critisizing Hindi have not see any of those.
There are good films and bad films in both the industries.
Unfortunately people just make an opinion based on the bad movies and stick to it without analysing it furhter.
There are superstars in each film industry and in each era.
It is unfair to compare any of them because all of them belong to a different Genre altogether.

Newton - The Father of Physics committed suicide, you know why?
Here are the reasons:
Once he came to India and He watched a few Tamil movies and had his
head spinning He was convinced that all his logics and laws in physics
were just a huge pile of junk and apologized for everything he had done.
In the movie of Rajanikanth, Newton was confused to such an extent
that he went paranoid.
Here are a few scenes:
1) Rajanikanth has a Brain Tumor which, according to the doctors can't
be cured and his death is imminent. In one of the fights, our great
Rajanikanth is shot in the head. To everybody's surprise, the bullet
passes through his ears taking away the tumor along with it and he is
cured. Long Live Rajanikanth!
2) In one of the movies, Rajanikanth is confronted with 3 gangsters.
Rajanikanth has a gun but unfortunately only one bullet. Guess, what
he does....... He holds a knife in his hand and throws at the middle
gangster & shoots the bullet towards the knife. The knife cuts the
bullet into 2 pieces and kills both the gangsters on each side of the
middle gangster & the knife kills the middle one.
3) Rajanikanth is chased by a gangster. Rajanikanth has a revolver but
he has no bullets in it. Guess what he does. Nah not even in your
remotest imaginations. He waits for the gangster to shoot. As soon as
the gangster shoots, Rajanikanth opens the bullet compartment of his
revolver and catches the bullet. Then, he closes the bullet
compartment and fires his gun. Bang... And the gangster dies....
This was too much for our Newton to take and he was completely shaken
and he decided to go back. But he happened to see a movie for one last
time! and thought that at least one movie will follow his theory of
physics. The whole movie goes fine and Newton is happy that all in the
world hasn't changed.
Oops not so fast.
The Climax finally arrives. Rajanikanth gets to know that the villain
is on the other side of a very high wall. So high that Rajanikanth
can't jump even if he tries like one of those superman techniques that
our heroes normally use. Rajanikanth has to desperately kill the
villain because its the climax. (Newton dada is smiling since it is
virtually impossible). Rajanikanth suddenly pulls two guns from his
pocket (Probably a backup). He throws one gun in the air and when the
gun has reached the height of the wall, he shoots at the trigger of
the first gun in air, with his second gun. Now the first gun fires off
and the villain is dead.
Newton commits Suicide.
May his soul rest in peace.
