Sex Advice: What are vaginal infections?

Q. What are the vaginal infections one could contract without actual penetration? (helped masturbation by inserting the finger) I have never had penetrative sex. I am experiencing a discharge whose colour ranges from liquid yellow to curd like white with a strongly offensive odour. I am currently on an fungicidal antibiotic..will this help? I also experiece a mild discomfort in the pelvic region on the right side...can u help me with answers? Is it serious? What is BV? I am to be married in 3 months.

A. Vaginal infections are very common. It could be fungal infections, bacterial vaginosis (BV) or mixed infections.

It is preferable to take a combination pack of oral tablets which will take care of all these infections.

It will be better to show a gynaecologist to check the nature of the infection. Also, routine sonography of the pelvis may be a good idea.
